Charlottesville-area golfer has full status on the PGA Tour’s

The best gift of his life
came nine days early. But, boy, did he have
to work for it.
“Oh my goodness, what a grind it was,”
Moyers says. “Toughest thing I’ve ever had
to do in my life.”
Facing by far the toughest competition
of his burgeoning professional career, the
22-year-old Stanardsville native tied for 28th
in the 150-player Web.com Tour Qualifying
finals to earn full status for the PGA Tour’s
feeder circuit that launched its 2015 season
in late January.
“Man, it was big-time pressure,” says
Moyers, the 2013 VSGA golfer of the year.
He turned professional last spring after
graduating from Virginia Tech in 2013.
“I was really feeling the heat on the 17th
hole of the final round when I hit my ball in
the water and made a double bogey. But I got
it in the house and got it done.”
The lanky Moyers stood tall all week in
the Dec. 11-16 event in Palm Beach, Fla.,
stringing together rounds of 69-67-71-72-6972 on PGA National’s Champion and Fazio
