THE LAST TIME the Virginia State Golf Association Amateur Championship visited Cedar Point Club in Suffolk , Brinson Paolini stormed back to beat Lanto Griffin 2 up in a memorable 36-hole final match . Since then , the club has undergone a branding change , and there has been significant investment in on-site infrastructure . But the challenging golf course remains a constant , and it will present a strong test for the best players in the Commonwealth this summer .
The signature event on the women ’ s schedule — the VSGA Women ’ s Amateur — returns to Richmond in July . Meadowbrook Country Club will host the event , marking just the second time this century the south Richmond club has hosted a multi-day VSGA championship . Lauren Greenlief won the Women ’ s Stroke Play title there in 2009 .
