Resume
G
REAT FALLS’ KELLY CHINN,
a VSGA member at Army Navy
Country Club, burst onto the
national scene last summer when he
advanced to the semifinals of the U.S. Junior
Amateur Championship. In November,
he added another huge line to his resume,
winning the AJGA’s Rolex Tournament of
Champions at PGA National in Florida.
Chinn posted a 12-under-par 274 over
four days, clinching his victory with an
even-par 71 on Thanksgiving Day. Chinn,
who attends Langley High School and has
committed to play at Duke University,
finished four strokes clear of Australian
Karl Vilips, who was No. 1 in the Rolex
vsga.org
AJGA Rankings entering the week.
Chinn’s win came in the 42nd edition of
the event, which counts Phil Mickelson,
Webb Simpson, David Duval and Charles
Howell III among its champions.
Chinn dominated the Fazio Course at
PGA National, opening with a 7-under-
par 65. After an even-par 71 on the Cham-
pionship Course, he returned a 5-under
67 in the third round on the Fazio Course
to build a three-stroke lead. His even-par
final round on the Championship was
enough to hold off the field.
Chinn entered the week ranked No. 45 in
the Rolex AJGA Rankings and rose to No. 15
after the victory, his first in an AJGA event.
Kelly Chinn won the AJGA's Rolex Tournament of
Champions at PGA National in Florida.
