Young Adults, Worldwide Mission

By the numbers, the Episcopal Church’s
Young Adult Service Corps program
is a pretty straightforward operation:
the Church invites young adults, ages
21-30, to serve one-year missionary
posts across the globe – 17 of them for
the 2012-2013 cycle, to be exact. But for
the young adults stationed in Mexico,
Japan, South Africa and beyond, YASC
means a bit more.
“YASC provides an opportunity for
vocational discernment and leadership
development,” said Elizabeth Boe,
officer for Global Networking for the
Episcopal Church. “Many young adults
graduate college with a desire to be
a part of something that will effect
positive change. YASC provides the
opportunity for young Episcopalians
to do all of these things while also
exploring and deepening their faith.”
What sets YASC apart is a strong
focus on relationship building. Many
