Virginia Episcopalian Magazine Spring 2013 Issue | Page 2

Letter to the Editor I did not want another day to pass without my publicly thanking God, our presiding bishop and the bishops of Virginia for the extraordinary, sensitive and love-centered liturgy that recently occurred in commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. Gratitude is as well expressed to St. George’ Church, Fredericksburg, and to the diocesan committees that did so much to make the time so special.   For a diocese in which the majority of the clergy once owned slaves to now be led by bishops like Shannon, Susan and Ted is clear evidence of how good God is and of the remarkable character and quality that defines our leadership. Who can doubt that we have seen the future, and a glimpse of the triumph of Christ!   The Rev. Canon (Colonel) Alonzo Pruitt Vicar, Calvary Church, Hanover Chief of Chaplains, Richmond City Sheriff's Office Stay in touch with the Diocese Here are just a few ways to stay up-to-date with the news, perspectives and discussions coming out of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. thediocese.net facebook.com/EpiscopalDioceseofVirginia facebook.com/VirginiaBibleChallenge flickr.com/EpiscopalDioceseofVirginia Who We Are The Episcopal Diocese of Virginia For Christ.
