The Fokker is made out of fiberglass so weighs in at only 750kg (1650 lb.) so is easily towed by the Buick and just to make sure it stays on the road for another forty years, Dirk fitted a new axel, brakes and shock absorbers and finished it all of with a nice new set of white wall tires. The caravan was then color matched to the car and finished off with a Red Bullet Logo designed by legendary Dutch artist Ger Peters. The entire restoration project took six months at an average of eighteen hours spent on it each week. It now travels to cars hows and rockabilly events around the Netherlands where it has won lots of prizes and always gets a lot of attention. “People really like the combination and stand in line to take photos of it”, Dirk tells me adding that some people almost have an accident as they try to take photos as they are driving of the duo whenever it is out on the road “It really is a unique trailer and car here in Europe, and I don’t think anyone else would be as crazy as we are to have spent that much money on a trailer!” 44 | vintagetrailermagazine
