Cover Story Snug as a Bug WORDS & PICS LISA MORA Lisa Burgess and her partner Louis Van Slobbe live on a five-acre property in Warwick, Queensland. Having been interested in Volkswagon Kombis, old motorbikes and mad keen collectors of all things retro, it wasn’t long before their interest turned to vintage caravans. Louis had spotted an old caravan that had been parked in the carport of a house in Warwick for about twenty years. About four years ago they decided to ask if the owners would consider selling it. The lady they spoke to told them that it had belonged to her late husband, but now was her daughter’s, who lived in Brisbane. After speaking to the daughter, they agreed to sell it. Lisa and Louis became the proud owners of a 1960 Sunliner, which they christened: “The Egg”. Over the past four years Lisa and Louis had been doing a bit of work on her now and then with the intention of her eventually getting the Sunliner back on the road again. The interior was stripped out in preparation for a total refurbishment. vintagecaravanmagazine | 21
