My name is Angela Croissant but most people call me Annie. I am 47 years old and I live in Forest Grove, Oregon and my trailer’s name is Lil Sassy Shasta. My mother instilled the love of everything vintage in me when I was a little girl. I loved looking at old family photo albums, heirlooms and I collected 1920’s hats as a teenager, in fact when I married my husband Steve, it was a 1920’s themed wedding. I have two grown children, Trevor and Ashlee. Ashlee is often my camping partner and right hand gal. We can pretty much set up and take down camp in a breeze. Years ago I owned a twenty-five foot modern trailer and pulled it myself. One day while looking at one of my trailer magazines I found an article about Sisters on the Fly and those cute little trailers just tugged at my heart. I knew then and there that one day I would have one. Lil Sassy Shasta is a 16ft. 1964 Shasta Continental. I bought her from Mt. Hood, Oregon. She’s pretty special because the entry door is at the rear of the trailer. There aren’t a whole lot out there with that floor plan. Sassy also has a toilet and shower, although the shower is so tiny and I have never used it. I had been pining over vintage trailers for years before my husband finally gave in and let me buy Sassy. He had a hard time understanding why I wanted an old trailer so bad when I already had a nice new one. I just like the way vintage trailers make you feel. Once you step inside your heart is filled with nostalgia and you can just imagine the good memories that families made camping together when life was just moving at a slower pace. My heart was set on a trailer with those glorious wings so I had been looking at ads that were posted in grocery stores, watched for trailers for sale along the roads and perused Craigslist almost every day when one day I spotted the ad for a Shasta. After talking with the owner a few times my husband I drove the two and a half hours to get her. I felt like it was many Christmas’ and birthdays all rolled into one. I couldn’t believe that I finally had one of my own. 16 | vintagecaravanmagazine
