October 2022 THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER 19
Charbonneau Arts Association
By CATHI MCLAIN
Fall is transition time for our association
This month ’ s Villager theme is transitions , a fitting theme for fall and for the Charbonneau Arts Association itself .
MCLAIN Festival of the Arts moving from spring to fall in 2023
The first big transition is a change of season for the annual Festival of the Arts , from early June to Sept . 22-24 , 2023 . The move to September was requested by the art teachers at Canby and Wilsonville High Schools , because of end-of-schoolyear programs and graduations . It also leaves the June dates open for the Wilsonville Arts & Culture Council ’ s events . Our festival will once again fill the Event Center and Activity Center , plus music in the pavilion . Watch this space for more information as plans evolve and think about volunteering .
CAA Board election results
Another transition for CAA resulted from board elections . Former vice president Elaine Swyt has replaced Cathi McLain as president , and Cathi will chair the Festival Organizing Committee . John McLain will chair the Music Stage Concert Series and continue as co-treasurer with Lindy Anderson , and Rose Mason continues as secretary . We are also pleased to announce the addition of Laura Curran to the board . Laura is a retired educator and art aficionado who currently serves as co-president of Charbonneau

New committee : Charbonneau Arts Music Stage Concert Series Committee
Another transition is the addition of the Charbonneau Arts Music Stage Concert Series Committee , chaired by John McLain . The first two events in the series , Brubeck & Blues and Karen Carpenter Tribute , both sold out . The next concert in the series , on Dec . 11 , will once again feature Rebecca Hardiman and her Karen Carpenter Tribute band , performing the music from The Carpenters ’ best-selling Christmas Album , A Christmas Portrait , as well as many of their beloved hits . This will be a highlight to the holiday season , and an evening you won ’ t want to miss ! It also would be a great Christmas gift for your family and friends . Tickets are on sale for $ 30 each on the CAA website at charbonneauarts . org . A Patsy Cline Tribute Concert is tentatively scheduled for April 2023 . Both of these concerts are sponsored by Lynda Huber , Equity Oregon Real Estate .
Simplifying grant application process
During the coming months , we will develop a simple grant application for teachers of performing and fine arts at Canby and Wilsonville High Schools to apply for funds generated from our most-successful Festival of the Arts , and the Music Stage Concert Series . We are excited to have more resources to devote to this endeavor . We will also be applying for grants ourselves to help fund the purchase of additional display panels and easels for the Festival of the Arts .
It all adds up to an evolving — and yes , transitioning — organization that has something for everyone .
