Village Voice October/November 2012 | Page 3

Soberton Players are performing COMMENT The Sound of Music by Rodgers & Hammerstein at Soberton Village Hall Did you have a good summer? There’s been plenty going on, and plenty of opportunity to get out and about. The weather has been kinder in recent weeks, especially for the Olympics and Paralympics, which somehow makes them seem even more successful. It’s been a summer for watching events some of us have never seen before, or at any rate, not live. Whether it was cycling, rowing, archery or, as in our case, sheepdog trials, it has been a summer to get outside and be part of the crowd. As usual, village events were well-attended, with everyone saying we should have them more often. Whenever we can, we advertise local events in this magazine. Why not make an early resolution to note them down in your diary as soon as you see them here. The next big event is, of course, the intervillage quiz. The date is set for 17th November, and the quiz this year will be hosted by Old Alresford at the Christy Hall. This event is always great fun, and the Village Voice Cup is hotly contested, so please come along in your teams. Contact Bernard Tucker (734915 - Old Alresford) or me (734853 - Bighton/Gundleton) for details, and see the advert in this edition.
