Surgery Refurbishment
We are now heading towards completion of
our building project and the refurbishment
of our dispensary, reception and waiting
areas. We are very grateful to our patients
for their patience and understanding during
the building work – the increased space will
give us the opportunity to improve the
services we provide. Once the dust has
settled we will be starting a programme of
redecoration for all the consulting rooms in
order to bring them up to date.
Appointments
During December 2013 we offered over
3600 face-to-face appointments; that’s an
average of over 180 patients visiting the
surgery each day. Our duty doctor and
nurse also make over 40 calls per day to
patients requiring more immediate help and
advice.
Feedback from patients over the last year
or so has told us that an online appointment
booking facility would be welcome. Our
team has been working hard to set this up
and it is now possible to book blood tests
and GP appointments via your computer,
tablet or smartphone. Please see our

register for this service.
Our text message reminder service is also
now up and running. If you would like to
receive reminders of your appointments in
this way please either complete a form

available from Reception or see our
website for an online consent form. We
hope these may help patients remember to
attend appointments, as in December we
‘lost’ 96 GP appointments through nonattendance – the equivalent of nearly four
days’ work denied to other patients.
Shingles vaccinations
Patients born between the following dates
can expect to receive an invitation for this
vaccination in the near future.
Born on or after 1/9/1942 but before
31/8/1943 and those born on or after
1/9/1933 but before 31/8/1934.
If you were not born between these dates
you do not currently qualify for the
vaccination but may be called later.
Other news
Dr Cribb has been awarded the Diploma in
Diabetes by the University of Cardiff.
