University Freshers –
Meningitis C
Any patient due to start University this
autumn is invited to have a booster of the
Meningitis C vaccination. Most will have
had three doses as a child but the
Department of Health has found that there
is strong evidence to suggest that an
adolescent booster provides better
protection, particularly in the student
population. We will not be inviting students
individually but they should look out for
further information from UCAS. Young
people outside the university system are
not being offered the vaccination as they
are not exposed to the same risk.
Any new first year university student can
book an appointment with a Practice Nurse
to have the vaccination as soon as an offer
of a place has been confirmed and
accepted.
Shingles Vaccinations
Patients who have received a letter from us
inviting them to have a shingles vaccination
but have not yet taken this up should be
aware that if they do not do so by 31 August
they will no longer be eligible to have this
immunisation.
Please telephone the
surgery as soon as possible to make an
appointment with a Practice Nurse. We will
be writing t
