I’m talking, of course about the decision of the
editor and her layout person to just up sticks and
abandon ship after a mere 13½ years at the
helm, leaving some of us to flounder about not
knowing where our next crust is coming from.
We had hoped that the next editor would look
kindly upon us little people and offer some
crumbs from the editorial table. As representative
of the contributing writers to Village Voice, I was
ready, willing and able to continue offering up my
illiterate, unintelligible and illegible thoughts to –
well, anyone really. But sadly, it was not to be.
No-one stood up to be counted, the magazine is
deceased. It is no more. It is a dead parrot.
Who knows? Maybe one day an out-of-work
editor will come galloping up on a shining white
horse, pen (or Ipad) in hand, ready to enter the
fray.
Until then, let’s not say goodbye, just au revoir.
Missing you already…
