JULIE CRAWFORD 1949 – 2014 It was a great shock to all her family and friends when in early March Julie was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. She was given 2/3 weeks to live but managed a further three months. During this time she enjoyed visits from all and found time to buy shoes, clothes and sample the odd bottle of fizz! Julie and I arrived in Bighton in 1990 and she immediately made friends with that winning smile and immersed herself in village life. For 20 years she was the secretary of the Village Hall committee, a regular contributor to the Flower Show (undisputed hanging basket champion!) and helped with teas at the village fete. and last but not least Dylan, she loved family life. Generous with her time, it is safe to say that without her support for me when we started our business, it would not be where it is today. I do not know anybody who was not enchanted by her smile and her ability to see the best in people. She was an accomplished artist and skilled gardener, being wholly responsible for the beautiful gardens at Maytree Cottage. My job was to drive her to the garden centre and pay the bill! I would like to say thank you again for all the help and support Joanna, Jemma and I received from doctors, nurses, carers and all the friends in the village and beyond who made our lives more bearable during the nightmare that started on 11th March. If you would like to make a donation to The Brain Tumour charity, you can, via Richard Steel in Winchester. Thank you and God bless you Julie.
