companies under Ronnie Frost. A successful
executive career followed in commerce. The
group of companies was subsequently floated
on the Stock Market as the Hays Group.
Geoffrey was a keen sportsman playing cricket
and hockey for his regiment. In retirement he
was a well-known senior beater in the Bighton
Shoot and also participated in the Rodney
Morgan Giles and Ronnie Taylor shoots. He
played cricket at Bighton, including playing for
the 1990 Chairman’s eleven against the village,
for which the author is most grateful! Geoffrey
enjoyed watching cricket, playing golf and
gardening.
He was an active participator in village events,
including the Fete and was one of the driving
forces behind the Bighton Millennium Record,
which included photographs of many village
properties and their owners.
A stalwart believer in his Sunday beer at the
Horseshoes, he will be much missed by his
many friends. He leaves his widow Rosie, to
whom he was married for 48 years, together
with his two daughters and a grandson.

brothers, his mother sadly dying during his
childhood.
Geoffrey was educated at Caterham School
and subsequently attended The Royal Military
Academy at Sandhurst. Commissioned into the
Royal Horse Artillery, three years’ service in
Hong Kong followed. On return to the UK he
spent a further three years with the Parachute
Brigade at Aldershot. His military career led him
to Hereford and several years’ service with the
SAS Regiment.
