ers and non-readers alike — to hear the Word of God . According to Jesus ’ parable of the sower , hearing the Word is the first step toward discipleship .
But Extend the Word outreach takes things to the next level . Church planters and their young , digitally inclined assistants are trained to lead discovery Bible studies . They follow a simple process developed by the JESUS Film Project to make disciples and multiply cell groups and churches . Three great things happen because of studying the Word and committing to apply it . Participants hear the Word played from the group leaders ’ phones in their mother tongue . Next , through a guided discussion , they grow to understand it . Then , together , they make plans to apply the Word : hear , understand , and bear fruit . It ’ s the way of discipleship . Digital Bible resources are the right tool at the right time for African villagers .
If you would like to help Extend the Word through the OMS Bibles for Africa project (# 404550 ), $ 10 will provide one Bible for an OMS church planter , or $ 8 will provide a set of digital Bibles and the JESUS film in local languages , plus two days of training needed to use those digital tools to make disciples .
