ANNUAL REPORT
Dear Villa Family and Friends ,

From the Board of Trustees Chair

This year , our school theme from Saint Angela Merici , “ Without a doubt , you will see marvelous things ,” not only describes some of the changes we encountered over the year , but also brings to life the marvelous opportunities of hope and growth for the school ’ s future .
I am excited to report on the remarkably positive and productive strategic planning process . The Villa ' s communitydeveloped , strategic growth plan will be completed in September 2022 and will serve as a roadmap to build on our successes so that we can advance and improve our school . I am grateful to the administration , faculty , staff , board members , parents , grandparents , alumni , and community leaders who contributed to the process . I look forward to continuing our work — Cultivating Excellence Together — as we launch the implementation phase of the strategic plan in the 2022-2023 school year .
As we look to the future , we must also reflect on the past . In doing so , I extend a sincere thank you to Kent Halaby , President of St . Ursula Villa . As we bid farewell to Kent after 14 years of dedicated service to our school , I am grateful for his contributions and leadership . On behalf of the Board of Trustees , I wish him the best in his next chapter .
Key to the success of any organization is its leadership . The Villa is fortunate to have an engaged and visionary Board of Trustees . While all have made important contributions during their terms , we must say farewell to those leaving our team , including : Paul Frodge , Karen Janke , Jim Neyer , and Jody Sedler . They have truly given their professional advice and personal support in so many ways . Paul served as Chair of the Marketing Committee and advanced the Villa ' s marketing efforts through updates for our website and numerous marketing materials . Karen served as a member of the Education and Ursuline Identity Committees and led service-learning projects , including the pen pal program and annual food drives . As Chair of the Buildings and Grounds Committee , Jim made many contributions to the maintenance and management of our facilities . He was instrumental in developing and improving our Villa nature trails . And Jody , a former Board chair , served on the Executive Committee for the Strategic Planning process among many other contributions she made during her tenure . She now steps away from the Board to serve as the school ' s Interim President . We are blessed to have her institutional knowledge and professional expertise as she leads the school through this time of transition . I am deeply grateful to all our outgoing Board members for the countless hours and incredible service they have given to St . Ursula Villa .
I am pleased to welcome the following new Board members : Nadia Butcher , who brings her expertise as an architect and serves on our Building and Grounds Committee , will continue to bring new ideas to the management of our facilities and campus as a Board member ; Sister Margie Efkeman , OSU , a long-time advisor and counsel to the school on the Ursuline charism and values , serves as a member of the Ursuline Committee ; Julie Muething , attorney and co-chair of the 2022 Annual Fund , shares her knowledge and experience in the areas of development and governance ; and David Taylor , a member of the Marketing Committee , shares his talents in marketing and communications .
A major initiative of the Board of Trustees in the coming months will be hiring the next President of St . Ursula Villa . A search committee has been formed , and efforts are underway to cultivate and identify potential candidates . The position will be posted in early October . For more information , please visit the Villa ’ s homepage ( www . stursulavilla . org ), under President Search .
On behalf of the Board of Trustees , administration , faculty , staff , and students , I thank you for sharing your gifts of time , talent , and treasure with St . Ursula Villa . When we come together as a community in service to others , we can experience “ marvelous things ,” and live our Villa Values to the fullest .
Sincerely ,
