The same idea applies to writing music. Devo chose society itself as the main target for his lyrics. They say their music applies to everyone. In fact Society Society’s income is completely based on tickets and merchandise sales. Every poster, record, and ticket sold goes immediately into the gas tank of the RV. “Everyone comes from a place,” Devo said. “It doesn’t matter if you’re poor, rich or middle class. I mean, everybody has life experiences. Nobody is less important than anyone else.” “It’s the best way to be uncomfortable,” William said. “ We walked around Sunset Blvd all day. We hadn’t been in the RV all day and it felt like I could relax. Like I was home.” Through the growing music scene of Tulsa, Society Society has gained a steady following. The band can easily fill a venue in Tulsa. However, this band has bigger goals to achieve. “We have been touring together since June of 2013,” Joe said. “We live on the road. We’ve been constantly on tour every month.” For tour dates and more information, visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ SocietySocietyMusic. Society Society headed back to Oklahoma after a stop in Las Vegas. They have plans to tour the eastern side of the country after some much needed rest. The band has released an EP called “The World Is What You Make It,” which is available online for download. “We make an experience that everyone can be a part of,” Devo said. “You could feel like you’re a part of our music.” 27
