In A 6th Grader’ s Shoes

o you remember when you were just a wee little 6th grader? When it seemed as if the last of your fun childhood days was coming to an end, the days with no recess and silly pinterest-based class projects? The concept of becoming“ grown up” in the life of a 6th grader turns into an exhilarating feeling coursing through your veins- finally, no more hassling from 2nd graders anymore. Saying goodbye to elementary was like clinging on to whatever was left of your childhood, yet being on the starting course of something new- middle school. Along with leaving behind the safe haven of your own cozy 6th grade classroom, you leave behind the goods as well. No more playground games, gym-conquering during recess, and no more dressing up for Book Character Day! After all, staying a 6th grader can still be pleasant. Just like on the 13th of April, the whole elementary was gifted with the opportunity to dress up as their favourite book character. And how could this day get even more exciting? With a book fair, of course! Students from 4th-6th grade constructed their own book analysis and explained their chosen novel, all made by their own creative works. In a 6th grader’ s shoes, this may seem like one of the best milestone in elementary, where it is a perfect opportunity for a student to pave way towards recognition. Nonetheless, it not only for receiving awards or trophies, but also for the acknowledgement of one’ s creativity. In fact, one of the winners, Daniel Hong, a 6th grader, says that through expressing himself by presenting the book he read, he was able to have a clear and focused mindset onto having a good memory and getting prepared for middle school.
Through this Book Fair I get to look at the future world of myself and therefore I have come to think deeper and wider through the book. With this in mind, I hope to have a good memory and prepare for middle school. It was a great opportunity for me.
