This I Believe
The Power of
praying moms

here’s a book entitled, “What happens when
Women Pray”, and although I’ve never read it, the title
has always grabbed me. Why? I think it’s because I
know and I believe that prayer is power. Leave out the
gender issue, prayer itself is a powerful tool. And how
is that? Well, as we pray, we are invoking the very
power of Jesus... the same power that raised him from
the grave.... giving victory over death. That’s a power
we cannot contain!
But weekly, groups of
moms
meet
in
our
Pavilion and do just that...
pray. Our prayers are
specifically for MICS– each
week we follow a specific
structure. We read scripture that highlights a specific
attribute of God, then we pray around those
scriptures, praising God for who He is, His attributes,
His name, or His character. Wow, I never fail to find
that opening time of prayer calms me and refocuses
my scope. I often feel as though I could pray for
hours!
After praising God for who He is, we pray silent
prayers confessing our sins to God who forgives,
then we pray prayers of thanksgiving for what God has done. By
now we are warmed up!
Now we prepare for prayers of
intercession… and that’s where
YOU come in! We have a prayer
schedule that Ibu Hendri prepares
each year for us. It gives us the name of one
professional staff member to pray for each week as
well as one or two of our non-professional staff
members. And each week we pray for about 6-7
students by name in specific classes. And we have a
specific scripture we pray for each student that we are
interceding for. Moreover, we cover our school in
prayer for specific concerns like an IISSAC trip, a
board meeting, injured and/or sick staff/students,
safety, salvation, etc. It is an honor to pray for our
school,
our
staff,
and
our
students.
At this point we divide into small prayer cells of 2 or
3 and we pray for one of our own children attending
MICS and all the others identified for the week. So
when you see a group
