This I Believe The Power of praying moms By: Vicki McGavran T here’s a book entitled, “What happens when Women Pray”, and although I’ve never read it, the title has always grabbed me. Why? I think it’s because I know and I believe that prayer is power. Leave out the gender issue, prayer itself is a powerful tool. And how is that? Well, as we pray, we are invoking the very power of Jesus... the same power that raised him from the grave.... giving victory over death. That’s a power we cannot contain! But weekly, groups of moms meet in our Pavilion and do just that... pray. Our prayers are specifically for MICS– each week we follow a specific structure. Moreover, we cover our school in prayer for specific concerns like an IISSAC trip, a board meeting, injured and/or sick staff/students, safety, salvation, etc. It is an honor to pray for our school, our staff, and our students. At this point we divide into small prayer cells of 2 or 3 and we pray for one of our own children attending MICS and all the others identified for the week. So when you see a group
