Devotional “Here I am, Lord.” Shared by Paul Beliasov Have you ever been called for something? Maybe you were late for dinner or some event and you received a call to come immediately. Maybe you received a call inviting you to join some exciting activity. Have you ever received a call from God? Perhaps this wasn’t on your phone, but maybe in a church service or during a time while reading His Word. Sometimes people get a call from God to serve Him in some capacity. Other people say they have never received any call from God, and then they move on with their lives. Some people say they would serve God full time with their lives if they were called, but that hasn’t happened yet. But did you know you have already been called by God? Sudah! In Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus tells His disciples to go and teach all people. This command was not only for the followers of Christ back then. It is for us today too. There are so many people in the world who do not know or fully understand the amazing news of the gospel--that Jesus loves them and wants them to live a joyous life in Him. But how will people hear about God’s good news without someone to tell them? Romans 10:14 asks this very question and concludes in verse 15 that people need to be sent out to preach this message. It also says, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.” You can have those beautiful feet! God wants you to go! Jesus told his disciples to just look up at the fields ready for harvest and pray for workers! That is us! Can you tell from all the explanation marks that this is exciting news for us? We have a job to do in this world! Too often when we think about our futures we first think about what kind of job we might like in the world or what kind of business we want to run. We worry about the availability of jobs in that sector and what our salary might be. Instead, our first thoughts should be those ripe fields Jesus talked about. God wants workers who love Him and are ready to share His message of love to the world. Why don’t we first consider being a pastor or missionary or doing some type of full time service for God? Shouldn’t we start with those thoughts and move on to some other type of job only if God leads us in another direction? I hope that we do not forget our first call—to teach the world about Him. God loves the world and has chosen us as His conduits for getting that message out. Will you ignore the call that God has already given you or will you be sensitive to that call and say like Samuel, “Here am I, Lord”? ?The Obama Administration is heavily opposed by Russia in its attempt to gather support to send an army to Syria.
