rofessor Pruthviraj Umesh is one of
the most popular teachers amongst
all the first year batches fortunate
enough to be taught Engineering
Mechanics by him. Although most remem-
ber him for his enthusiasm and devotion to the
subject in the classroom, there is a whole other
side to him that very few are aware of.
As a child, when he used to stay in a home
beside a PG accommodation block in Mangalore,
he loved to fly IC engine planes or Control Line
Model planes, which were essentially made out
of sheet metal. These were flown by holding it in
your hand and rotating the plane till the fuel was
exhausted.
