The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the diverse cultural heritage of Vicksburg, the Mississippi Delta, and the American South. VICKSBURG ART ASSOCIATION / HISTORIC FIREHOUSE GALLERY *
The Vicksburg Art Association is a non-profit organization that provides resources for the creative community of Vicksburg. Workshops in varied art disciplines, exhibitions of works by regional artists, art-related programs, and guest speakers are featured throughout the year. VICKSBURG CHAMBER CHOIR
The Vicksburg Chamber Choir is a non-profit organization that offers a spring and Christmas choral concert. Rehearsals are held at 6:30 p. m. on Tuesdays at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 920 South St. People interested in singing with the group are invited to join the choir. VICKSBURG ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY
The Vicksburg Orchestral Society was formed in 2010. Members skilled in strings, woodwind and brass rehearse at The Church of the Holy Trinity, 920 South St. and perform throughout the year. For more information, call 601-942-5469.
VICKSBURG THEATRE GUILD
The Vicksburg Theatre Guild is the oldest chartered community theater in Mississippi, offering live theater for more than 80 years at locations including the riverboat Sprague on the riverfront, the Playhouse stage on Bowmar Avenue, and now at the Parkside Playhouse location, 101 Iowa Ave. The VTG is also home to the Guinness Book of World Records’ longestrunning show,“ Gold in the Hills,” which has been performed every year since March 1936. Additionally, VTG holds a Summer Youth Program each year for children ages seven through 18. The program allows children to gain experience in many of the areas of theatre, such as acting, learning lines, making costumes, helping with set construction, and helping backstage. The Strand, 717 Clay St., is home to Arthouse Film screenings offered throughout the year. The Westside Theatre Foundation is a nonprofit theater group operating in downtown Vicksburg at The Strand.
