ERDC researchers harness the power of plants and natural ecosystems to build stronger, more sustainable engineering solutions.
safe. It’ s about the families, generation after generation, who call Vicksburg home, while shaping the future of national defense.
That innovation continues to fuel our community. ERDC isn’ t just a global leader in research, it’ s also a cornerstone of Mississippi’ s economy. Last fiscal year alone, ERDC had a $ 204.5 million direct economic impact in our state, contributing $ 161 million in salaries to Mississippi families. It stands as the number one employer in Warren County, supporting not just its workforce but also local businesses. Last year, ERDC partnered with Mississippi small businesses to the tune of $ 14.5 million and invested another $ 29 million in research and development with universities and large industries in our state. That kind of impact means ERDC’ s story isn’ t just about science and engineering, it’ s about opportunity, growth and the future of our community.
ERDC has stood with Vicksburg through flood and war, through change and challenge— serving our community and our nation in ways both seen and unseen. And it will continue to do so, today, tomorrow and always. Because at its heart, the story of ERDC is the story of Vicksburg itself: resilient, innovative and unwavering, and it all began right here at home.
