STRENGTHENING WORKPLACES THROUGH SHARED LEARNING

In today’ s evolving workplace, HR professionals and business leaders are navigating constant change while balancing employee needs and organizational priorities. Amid new laws, emerging technologies and complex workforce dynamics, the ability to learn from peers and share practical solutions has become increasingly valuable.

HR Connections was created ten years ago to meet this need, offering a collaborative space where professionals can exchange ideas, build relationships, and strengthen their collective impact within the local business community.“ One of the most valuable aspects of HR Connections is the opportunity to learn from peers who understand the realities of the role,” said Rachel Scherer, Planning Committee Lead.
“ The conversations and shared experiences help us grow both professionally and as a business community.”
The HR Connections planning committee, comprising Joy Vander Heiden from Ehlers, Ethel Garcia from Innovize, Mikayla Wickersham from Merrick, Inc., and Rachel Scherer from IC System, embodies this spirit of collaboration, as reflected throughout this year’ s programming, which is intentionally designed to translate discussion into real workplace results.
The year began with a session centered on onboarding for engagement and retention. Participants explored strategies ranging from structured first-day experiences and mentorship models to intentional communication touchpoints that foster early connection.
