a 34-unit apartment complex located in White Bear Lake that offers supportive housing for families with children experiencing homelessness .
Solid Ground also has a scattered-site , permanent supportive housing program called Welcome Home Washington that provides chronically homeless families with income-based rental assistance and supportive services to help them secure and maintain safe , affordable housing , improve their health and independent living skills and achieve greater economic stability . Another program , HomeFront , provides ten units of permanent supportive housing for military veterans and their families who have experienced long-term homelessness .

“ We ’ re also doing a lot of rent assistance . That ’ s a growing piece for us . We ’ re helping people who are already housed but struggling to remain in that housing to be able to pay rent that ’ s owed , and keep their family stable ,” said outgoing Solid Ground Executive Director Trisha Cummins Kaufmann , MPA .
After 26 years with the organization , Cummins Kaufmann is retiring and Diamond Hunter has been named the new executive director . Also planned for 2024 , a remodel of the organization ’ s East Metro Place facility .
Solid Ground is funded by a mix of public and private funds , the organization has service contracts with federal , state and county entities , and also does a lot of fundraising with donors , businesses and faith communities , and through grant writing .
