In the City of Shoreview , there will be a big focus on redevelopment in 2024 . “ It ’ s kind of a unique and exciting time in Shoreview ’ s history in that being a city that is mature and nearly fully developed , we have several major endeavors underway that can transform parts of the community ,” said Tom Simonson , Assistant City Manager and Community Development Director for the City of Shoreview .
The City has three big projects that have been underway over the past couple of years , one of which is nearing completion . The Shoreview Corporate Center near the intersection of Lexington Avenue North and Country Road F West has been transformed .

“ One thing the City is proud of is that with our inclusionary housing requirements adopted in 2022 and implemented in 2023 , we are requiring all buildings with 20 units or more to have a minimum of 10 percent of units in new development be dedicated to affordable housing options ,” said Simonson . “ This is being done both through private and public investment .”
In addition , the finishing touches will be put on the future McNeely Music Center at 4910 Highway 61 , and Tommy ’ s Express Carwash is now open at 4061 Highway 61 . Plus , the City is in the finishing stages of a downtown mobility and parking study .
“ It will guide the future as we re-do streets and invest in the Downtown area ,” said Shimek . “ The City is in the process of updating our zoning code , which will be the first major overhaul of the zoning code since 1983 . This will modernize our code and bring it in line with our 2040 comprehensive plan .”
Projects getting underway in 2024 include a nine-unit townhome development that has been approved at County Road E and Bellaire Avenue .

has really changed what was an aging campus into a modern and vibrant mixed use of business and residences .”
