What an exciting time ! As we head into our third year since the global shutdowns forced individuals to pivot both personally and professionally , much of the business community has acclimated to the new normal and are once again , thriving . The year 2023 holds a lot of promise for the VHEDC Board of Directors as we have welcomed several new board members who have already brought a renewed energy to our primary areas of focus . Being in-person as much as possible for our Business Retention and Expansion ( BR & E ) initiatives will be invigorating as we continue to learn how the business community needs support .
Providing value to our investors , learning more about them , and growing our investor base with the right kind of investors is a priority for both the Board and our Investor Relations committee . Along with this , we have a strong concentration on the engagement and development of Young Professionals in the Northeast Metro community by creating awareness for opportunities to participate in initiatives and outlets for professional growth .
ABOUT KYLE SOMMER
Board President Kyle Sommer has served on the VHEDC Board of Directors since 2016 , and served as the organization ’ s Vice President in 2022 . His engagements as Chair of the Investor Relations Committee and Business Appreciation events over the years has helped him understand how to define the value organizations perceive from an economic development corporation .
Kyle is a Major Account Executive with Toshiba Business Solutions and has worked as a business technology consultant on solutions revolving around electronic content management , managed print services , and digital signage with organizations in all vertical markets across Minnesota , Wisconsin , and the Dakotas for ten plus years .
Over the years , Kyle has served on several boards and committees for non-profits across the metro . He strongly feels that the culture of the VHEDC Board and its investors is the main reason he chooses to stay so specifically engaged in the Vadnais community . As a young professional , Kyle also feels the personal and professional development he has gained from his engagement with the caliber of business leaders that the Vadnais business community holds has been invaluable in developing soft leadership skills over the years .
