Minnesota is home to four Intermediate school districts , which are specialty school districts that provide defined student services to a group of regular “ member ” school districts . These four intermediate school districts serve 45 member school districts , and more than 20,000 students annually .
Northeast Metro 916 is one of the four intermediate school districts serving nearly 6,000 students through shared programming that includes career and technical education , special education services , care and treatment , and area learning centers . Through sharing resources , talent , and ideas , Northeast Metro 916 provides cost-effective , expert , and reliable services to their 13-member school districts and the students and families they collectively support .
Northeast Metro 916 serves some of Minnesota ’ s most unique learners . Member districts can refer students to 916 , or students and parents can choose to enroll directly . District 916 responds to students , educators , and school districts ’ unique needs with innovation , quality , and trusted experience . They offer various other educational and administrative services such as itinerant staffing services , staff development , a conference center , testing and assessment services , student accounting and billing services , supplemental educational services , and professional services . All these services help their member districts to be more cost-effective .

and challenging process in which all staff must work to recognize and reduce assumptions and biases to truly understand the needs and potential of those the district supports .
The Career and Technical Center in Northeast Metro 916 is among 916 ’ s many innovative programs . Over 900 students from 916 member districts are enrolled in at least one of the 20 available programs . 916 Career and Tech students enroll in yearlong coursework that is an extension of their regular school day and provides unique learning opportunities that they do not have in their home schools . 916 Career and Tech students gain a real competitive advantage through their access to over 20 career and technical specialty programs led by fully CTElicensed teachers who utilize an array of up-to-date , industry-standard equipment in the shops , labs , and classrooms located at Century College .
