Carl Edwards, once again knocked out lap after lap from the front as we neared the end of the race, just like in the spring. But unfortunately, a gamble on gas to stay out front ended up catching Edwards just before he took the white flag for one lap to go. He ran out of gas going into turn three and was easily caught and passed by Kevin Harvick. Edwards would be passed another 19 more times in the final lap to finish in 21st place.

Harvick, on the other hand, who was chasing Jimmy Johnson in the standings, still couldn’t catch up as much as he needed to prior to the last weekend in Miami, as Jimmy finished in third place, pretty much guaranteeing that he will become a six-time champion after the race at Homestead.
