WE WELCOME YOU WELCOME TO NORTHEAST WISCONSIN TECHNICAL COLLEGE Your service to our country is greatly appreciated and we are honored that you have chosen NWTC as the college to help you achieve academic success and meet your dreams and goals. As a Student Veteran at NWTC you are entitled to certain benefits and programs that are designed to aid in your academic success. This handbook will discuss not only those programs, but also act as a quick reference to help you better understand your benefits, certain policies, and your responsibilities. Remember, NWTC’s Veteran Services employees, and those employees acting in an official capacity to certify enrollment to the Department of Veterans Affairs, do not work for the VA. We are professionals hired by NWTC to support you during your academic career and aid in your success. NWTC’s Veterans Resource Center Hours of Operation: 8am-5pm Monday-Friday The NWTC Veterans Resource Center provides service to veterans, active duty military, reservists and eligible dependents enrolled at the college. Some of the services offered include: I appreciate the flexibility of scheduling that NWTC offers, and the support I receive from faculty and staff. B randon 6 nwtc.edu/veterans • Providing information and guidance for veteran students and dependents about educational entitle -ments, applying for educational benefits, and certifying enrollments at the college. • Advising veterans concerning their academic progress and available resources at the college to ensure their success. • Providing on-site access to select community and VA based outreach services. • Providing assistance in resolving problems that may arise with the student’s educational benefits and the Department of Veterans Affairs. NWTC provides a number of support services to all students including veterans. These include student counseling, academic advising, financial aid, career services, academic coaching, WIA services, financial coaching, accommodations, etc. Meet with the Veteran’s Advisor, or your Academic Advisor, if you have any questions about the resources available to you as a student.
