I AM CONCERNED ABOUT ATTENDING CLASS
REGULARLY, FOCUSING IN THE CLASSROOM
AND BECOMING INVOLVED IN CLASS
DISCUSSIONS. SHOULD I BE?
Although many Veterans/service members may have stress
stress-
ful or traumatic experiences, not all develop Post-Traumatic
Stress Disorder. They may be having transition difficulties, being an older
student, feeling alienated and difficult to integrate into the campus because their life
experiences differ significantly from many other students and faculty. We encourage
all of our students to develop an open dialogue about their frustrations or concerns.
We also provide them with information about various services and resources
available such as Career Services, College Counseling Services and Accommodation
Sevices. NWTC recognizes that each student veteran is unique in their experiences
and not all veterans are combat veterans.
I AM INTERESTED IN BEING EVALUATED
FOR CREDIT FOR A CLASS. HOW WOULD
MY EXPERIENCE BE EVALUATED?
I like the smaller
class sizes and
one-on-one
attention you
receive from your
instructors.
Brian
NWTC evaluates military
training and experience
according to The American Council on Education’s
(ACE) College Credit Recommendation Service. ACE
provides access to academic credit for formal courses
and examinations taken outside traditional degree pro-
pro
grams. The ACE Guide to the Evaluation of Educational
Experiences in the Armed Services contains recom-
recom
mended credit awards for formal military courses and
occupations. These recommendations for credit come
from faculty content experts. These voluntary teams
evaluate and recommend the credit to be granted. For
questions concerning credit evaluation please see the
veteran advisor.
