Times Last Hope
The earth is a clock with a slow, stone heart, Counting the centuries part by part, It wrote its history in rings of a tree, And timed the pulse of the deep, cold sea.
For millions of years the rhythm was slow, With time for the ice and the forests to grow, But we found the gears and turned them fast, Burning the future to power the past.
Now the seasons are racing, the shadows are long, The birds have forgotten the words of their song, The“ Once upon a time” is fading away, Into the“ Never again” of today.
But time is a river, not just a race, We can find a slower, steadier pace, If we act this hour before the bells chime, We can give the earth the gift of its time.
