Writing is an inherently evocative and personal process. Fleshing out one ' s experiences, emotions and beliefs on paper gives witness to the passage of time, embracing both individual and public narratives. This year’ s writers interacted creatively and imaginatively with our theme of time, resulting in a range of works that cover diverse angles and perspectives, from a meditation on grief at a loved one ' s death to exposing the nature of historical injustice.
The Verve team have carefully selected poems and prose extracts that we feel reflect the creative and authentic voices of our community, as well as our theme of time. A big thank you to all students who submitted their work this year- it was a pleasure to read each and every entry and to experience such a vast range of ideas and styles of writing. We hope you enjoy reading Verve 2026 and look forward to your new submissions in 2027!
Thank you, The 2026 Verve Team
