A year ago , the town of Sevenoaks was emerging from lockdown , after Covid-19 had spread quickly across the United Kingdom . A year ago very few of us could have predicted that there would be another two lockdowns to disrupt and confuse our lives . Students in all year groups have learned to adapt , persevere and make progress in ways we never knew we could . This is why the Verve team is proud to announce a newly adapted and progressive ‘ Virtual Verve ’, completely online , completely student-written and edited , in order to celebrate some of the amazing work that many students have continued to do this year in the face of so much uncertainty .
This year , our theme was ‘ Zoom In ’. We asked our submitters to write about the little things that helped them during lockdown , to hone in on the simplest of activities and objects that make the world a little bit of a better place . In this way , the following pages contain a combination of beautiful reflections of honest personal experience , as well as suspense-filled short stories and comedic ideations , and many more pieces from students throughout the school .
