Colombian Infrastructure

Colombian government has undergone a huge effort in the last decade to improve on its shortcomings in infrastructure, not only refurbishing roads but also airports, sea / river ports, and railways.
Colombia has 2, 400 kilometers o f n a r r o w g a u g e r a i l r o a d, w h i c h i s d i v i d e d i n t o f o u r different systems managed either by concessions or by national departments.
In 2013, President Santos announced an ambitious program to update the country’ s roads within the next six years, allocating an investment of more than USD $ 16 billion.
Most of the road projects are designed to expand the country’ s transportation system and include more than 30 primary road improvements and construction projects.
According to DANE, during the last quarter of 2014, investment in infrastructure grew 16.2 percent.
Passenger air travel in Colombia has increased by 10.2 percent over the last year( mobilizing 34.1 million passengers) and is ranked ahead of countries such as Argentina and Chile.
4G program aims to build over 4,400 miles of new roads, 88 miles of tunnels, and 94 miles of bridges across the country before the end of the decade.
