DTF Announces Casting
Dorset Theatre Festival has announced full casting for The Beauty Queen of Leenane by Martin McDonagh and Sidekicked by Kim Powers in their upcoming 2024 Main Stage season , scheduled from June 21 through September 7 at the Dorset Playhouse ( 104 Cheney Rd . in Dorset , VT ).
Kristine Nielsen , playing Mag , and Maxine Linehan , playing Maureen , will star as mother and daughter in the international award-winning hit play , The Beauty Queen of Leenane by Academy Award-winner Martin McDonagh , directed by Dorset ’ s resident playwright , Pulitzer Prize and Emmy Award Nominee Theresa Rebeck . The cast will also include David Mason playing Pato , whose previous Dorset credits include Table Manners ( 2016 ) and the World Premieres of Dig by Theresa Rebeck ( 2019 ) and Thirst by Ronán Noone ( 2022 ). His Off-Broadway credits include Rebeck ’ s Dig ( Primary Stages ) and Seared , directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel ( MCC ), as well as Trick or Treat ( 59E59 ). The role of Ray will be played by Eimhin FitzGerald Doherty .
Dorset Theatre Festival has also announced that Broadway and television actress , Kelly McAndrew , will star as Vivian Vance in the one-woman tour-de-force play , Sidekicked by Kim Powers , about the actress behind the housecoat-wearing Ethel Mertz , perpetual sidekick to the one and only Lucille Ball . Casting for the remaining shows , Native Gardens and the World Premiere of True Art , will be announced at a later date . Ticket packages are available now . Bring Your Pup to Theater at the Wilburton Inn
By PUP-ular demand — and in a fitting celebration of Canine Concierge Jetson ’ s 10th birthday !— The Wilburton Inn is pleased to host two concert presentations of Off Broadway ’ s musical romantic comedy , A Dog Story ( book by Eric H . The Wilburton ’ s special “ Spring Doggie Slumber Paw-ty ” weekend package on May 17 – 19 includes admission to the May 18 , 4pm show , which is open only to hotel guests and their pets . Sip & Paint on Slate at Slate Valley Museum
The Slate Valley Museum will host its first Sip & Paint on Slate event of the year on April 26 from 7pm to 9pm . This event is the first of six unique , stand-alone sessions that the museum will offer this year . For this spring session , painters will use a slate tile sourced directly from the Slate Valley as their canvas . They ’ ll create their own painted work with step-by-steps guidance and encouragement from art teacher Darcie Parrott . For this workshop , attendees will paint a covered bridge scene .
Pre-registration for Sip & Paint on Slate is required . Tickets are $ 40 per person and include all art materials , one beverage ticket , and a selection of snacks . Space is limited . SVAC ’ s ‘ Art from the Schools ’ Exhibition
Celebrate spring at the Southern Vermont Arts Center ( SVAC )! Art from the Schools , showcasing students aged 1 – 19 , will be on view from April 27 through May 26 . The exhibition will fill the Wilson Museum with artwork by students from more than 30 schools . This year for the first time , beginning May 4 , winning pieces from Vermont ’ s Congressional Art Competition will join the display . Don ’ t miss the opening party on April 27 from 2pm to 4pm !
