9th Annual Foodaroo Festival
On August 11 from 4pm to 8pm , the ninth-annual Foodaroo festival comes to Middlebury ’ s Historic Marble Works District overlooking the falls ( River Front Park , Outside 137 Maple St . in Middlebury , VT ). Presented by Middlebury Underground ( MUD ), Foodaroo is a family-friendly festival that celebrates Vermont ’ s culinary artisans and beverage makers , with an emphasis on Addison and Chittenden County vendors and farms . From food trucks to brick-and-mortar operations , this event is dedicated to showcasing creative , farm fresh cuisine . Attendees taste their way through the festival while enjoying acclaimed live and curated music , street performers , kids ’ activities , baking competitions , and much more . The cover is $ 5 ( cash ). Kids 12 and under free . Food and beverages are available to purchase . Foodaroo is proud to donate a portion of proceeds to The Giving Fridge , a community organization dedicated to offering free and subsidized meals purchased from local restaurants and made with ingredients from local farms and producers . Foodaroo 9 will feature all-time festival favorites , as well as newcomers , providing a delicious taste of the farm-to-table lifestyle that is a hallmark of our state . This year ’ s festival is proud to welcome two celebrated street performers : Boston ’ s Jason Escape , a Houdini-style escape artist ; and Los Angeles ’ s Colin Campbell , a street performer and comedian who has been featured on Comedy Central . Hip-Hop DJ sensation Serena Kim will kick off the festival with a Motown set and conclude the evening with Disco . Foodaroo also features spectacular live music from Mark Daly as he reunites his popular band Madaila for an exhilarating set . All emceed by WVTK ’ s Ted Richards . In addition , Foodaroo is honored to host a King Arthur Flour baking contest – joining the ranks of about 180 fairs and festivals nationwide that offer these exciting competitions . United Pickleball Association Championship
The 2024 Stratton Open returns for its second year - this time as the Vermont State qualifier for the UPA World Championships . This 3-day tournament is held at Vermont ’ s largest outdoor pickleball center at Stratton Mountain Resort . With singles , doubles , and mixed doubles , there are plenty of play options for players of all levels . Registration is limited and ends on July 31 at 5pm . The dates and events are : August 2 : Men ' s Singles and Women ' s Singles ; August 3 : Women ' s Doubles and Men ' s Doubles ; August 4 : Mixed Doubles Champions Division : Participants who secure skill-level gold at a state championship are eligible for a complimentary event fee to the UPA World Championships in Dallas , TX . This exclusive offer recognizes and rewards excellence in the Champions Division and ensures the best possible competition . Free Community Dinner
Join us for fun , food , and fellowship on August 4 at 5pm at the Eagles Club located at 1610 Depot Street on Rt 11 / 30 in Manchester ( the former Garlic John ’ s ). This meal is a community project of Zion Episcopal Church and the purpose of the meal is to bring people together and to help us meet and get to know our neighbors . East Poultney Day
The 89th East Poultney Day will be held on August 10 from 9am to 3pm on the historic East Poultney Green . This year , we take a look at the history of local manufacturing with the theme , “ Made in Poultney .” Historian Ennis Duling and Poultney Public Librarian Rebecca Cook will present a detailed lecture on items made locally including melodeons , toy pianos , Manhattan shirts , women ’ s dresses , equipment for creameries , slate working tools , stoves , steamboats for the lake , and African carts .
Long-time area educators Dale and Joan Prouty will explore what 19th Century School Days were like , located at the Union Academy . The day will feature kids ’ activities including an ice cream contest , a bounce house , face painting , yard games , and art projects . Adults will find more than 25 vendors , woodworking demos by REclaimED , and farm fresh foods . Special musical performances by acclaimed Vermont singer-songwriter Breanna Elaine will play in the morning and Carl Anton Diethelm will play in the afternoon to enrich the festival . Our three historic museums will be open all day with new exhibits and a return of the 1929 Poultney model train .
And don ’ t forget the Poultney Historical Society Raffle by getting the enclosed tickets to us by 1:30pm on East Poultney Day . Grand Prizes include Hubbardton Forge lamp , Telescope beach chair , a large historic photograph , and $ 100 cash , plus many more prizes donated by our local vendors .
