The official motto of Vermont is “ Freedom and Unity ,” but I ’ d like to suggest we add the word “ Collaboration ” to the phrase .
“ Freedom , Unity , and Collaboration .” Yeah , that sounds like Vermont .
I mean , is there any other place on earth in which a famous glass artisan and a world-renowned chef would combine forces to create an entirely new art form ?
Where else on this planet can you find a top beer brand that actually got its start , because of “ love at first sight ”?
And let ’ s not forget the music ! The musical collaborations fostered in Vermont can last decades . International stars Emanuel Ax and Yo-Yo Ma first performed together at the Marlboro Music Festival 51 years ago this August !

Be sure to read this issue ’ s Giving Back , which features “ Dig Deep Vermont ,” a multi-organizational collaboration focused on supporting Vermont ’ s farms ( and farmers ) who are still recovering from the 2023 Floods .
