In the musical , “ Anne of Green Gables ,” ( based on the book by Lucy Maud Montgomery ), there is a great song with the opening lyric , “ Why Ain ’ t it Always Summer ?”
Sung by a group of pre-teens , the lyrics reference the childhood adventures that summer brings …
Though I am three decades past my middle school years , I still know that feeling .
I was twelve years old in the Summer of 1992 — and it was a pivotal time in my life . I spent that summer in Vermont — and it was filled with adventures that forever changed me .
30 years later — I still LOVE Vermont .
This summer , I encourage you to remember your childhood enthusiasm for summer , explore Vermont , and go on some adventures !
