Founder Phil Mastroianni ’ s life began with an upbringing that seamlessly blended American culture with glimpses of his Italian heritage . However , it was a transformative trip to the picturesque town of Platania in Calabria , Italy , with his brother
60 VERMONT MAGAZINE and Co-Founder , Nick Mastroianni , that awakened a deep connection to their Italian roots and ignited a profound passion for tradition . Amidst the stunning landscapes of the old country and the warmth of family connections , the founders ’ appreciation for the sacrifices made by their ancestors in pursuit of a better life in America grew stronger . This newfound passion deepened during subsequent visits to Platania , culminating in the inspiration to create Limoncello .
Phil and Nick began to make homemade Limoncello as a hobby . What began as a fun experiment , influenced by a cousin ’ s homemade Limoncello , evolved into a heartfelt endeavor after an unexpected comment from an uncle : “ You know , this is what you should be doing … this is the best Limoncello I ’ ve ever had .”
The birth of Fabrizia Spirits was a labor of love , unfolding on weekends and late nights with unwavering support from family and friends . Each bottle of Fabrizia Limoncello became a tribute to the hard work ethic instilled by previous generations . The company ’ s guiding motto , “ You don ’ t know where you ’ re going until you know where you came from ,” perfectly encapsulates the founders ’ personal journey : a reconnection with their heritage and the discovery of an extraordinary talent for crafting exceptional Limoncello .
