Native Vermonter and Norwich University Professor Dr . Arthur W . Peach proposed the 251 Club of Vermont in 1954 , inspired by the question : “ How can I come to know the real Vermont ?” Dr . Peach felt that every corner of his home state had something worth discovering- all 251 organized towns and cities ( including 5 “ unorganized ” towns !) Members of the Club aspire to visit each and every one and share stories of their adventures with the community at large . Their quest is driven by Dr . GIRLS ON THE RUN VT CELEBRATES 25TH ANNIVERSARY
Girls on the Run VT ( GOTRVT ) is a statewide nonprofit that inspires 3rd-8th grade girls to
be joyful , healthy , and confident by utilizing a fun , evidence-based curriculum . This year is GOTR ’ s 25th year celebrating
young girls in Vermont ! Approximately 1,700 girls benefited from the program this year and were mentored by over 500 trained coaches who used physical activity and dynamic discussions to build social , emotional , and physical skills . Since the program ’ s inception in Vermont , over 39,000 girls have participated .
GOTRVT will be hosting their annual fall fundraiser , the Sneaker Soiree , on October 19 at Burlington Beer Company , 180 Flynn Ave . in Burlington , in an effort to raise critical funds for the 2025 season . gotrvt . org
