Beth Brown-Limmer , Chair of the VCBS Events Committee , adds that the 2023 calendar was the first major fundraising vehicle of this magnitude since VCBS ’ founding . “ We sold 400 and raised several thousand dollars ,” says Brown- Limmer . “ They were very well-received by our members and the public ,” adds VCBS Treasurer Dan Monger . Other items sold by VCBS include books , calendars , ball caps with the VCBS logo , bumper stickers , stationery , and 1000-piece jigsaw puzzles .
These ongoing fundraising campaigns have contributed to the society ’ s funds , which provide financial assistance to towns in dire need of repairs . “ Our funds have allowed us to support towns that may not be able to afford bridge repairs ,” notes Nelson . These funds were instrumental in restoring the Morgan Covered Bridge in Belvidere , which had unforeseen damages discovered after initial repairs . The VCBS , in collaboration with the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges , extended their support to ensure the bridge ’ s preservation .
VCBS also makes their presence known at a variety of Vermont community events . “ We had a booth at the Rutland State Fair in August 2022 ,” says Brown-Limmer . “ We plan to be there again this year . It ’ s a wonderful opportunity to recruit new VCBS members and tell folks what we ’ re all about . Our mission is a good one and an important one to Vermont .”

Brown-Limmer elaborates : “ In 2022 , the booth was in Jeffersonville , Rutland , Middlebury , and Pittsford from July to November . We are expanding the events we do every year . This year , Middletown Springs and Chester events were added . We are on the move !”
