The show left Vermont for a pre-Broadway run
throughout Canada in the 2017-18 season. With 15 new
songs and large additions of dialogue, the team had much
to prepare for before their transfer to Broadway in 2019.
Hadestown enjoyed another warm-up run in the
UK in late 2018 to early 2019 before transitioning to
Broadway, and opened April 17, 2019. Matchstick,
as one of the many Vermonters involved with the
project, insists that its creation and evolution in the Green
Mountains should inspire all Vermonters. It not only
shows the ooutside world what Vermont creators are ca-
pable of, but confirms what we already knew; Vermontis
home to an incredible group of creative talents.
Mitchell, and her Vermont creation Hadestown plan to
stay on Broadway for at least another year, with tickets
available, Tuesday through Sunday.
