Though born and raised in the Midwest , in my youth , I had the privilege to spend a lot of time on my family ’ s homestead in Vermont . I remember – as a young boy , and then as a teenager – being enamored by the mountains , lakes , and running rivers of Vermont . And the light … So different from Missouri . I knew , even at a young age , that I wanted to live in this region . I hope the sense of wonder I felt as a young person is evident in my mature work .

Like all artists , the materials and techniques that I use have evolved over the years . Here is a brief description of how I work at present : These are all imagined landscapes . I draw out the composition in line and do a painting in the conventional sense with watercolor and acrylic , then add my distinctive texture with a quill pen using colored ink .
