HIGHLIGHTS HIGHLIGHTS CELEBRATING LEARNING IN PRIMARY ROOTS, SHOOTS AND FRUITS Roots, Shoots & Fruits, a scientific unit of inquiry, investigated why over thousands of years plants had become so successful and even outlasted the era of the dinosaurs. Students in Year 6 started by dissecting plant species into their biological parts and drew diagrams to understand the nature of their development.  The class went on a field trip to Parcul Natural Vacaresti to collect different species of plants, flowers, fruits and seeds to brought back to class and classified. Based on their findings, students devised their own investigation to present as part of their Exit Point. Some of the exhibits on display were terrariums that students used to explain what plants need in order to live and grow. A model Venus flytrap to show how plants attract insects, and plants that had grown in water without soil to explain the function of roots. 14  |   VERITA INSIGHTS
