ENTERTAINMENT VERB MAGAZINE VOLUME 1 ISSUE 1 FEBRUARY 2014 PAGE 10 WHAT’S GOOD IN FEBRUARY? Most of us will be undoubtedly spending this February gearing up to wine and jam in March for Carnival Monday and Tuesday, but if you're like me and sometimes want something else to listen to or look at, here's what'll be happening this month: Music Film Television The beginning of the year is pretty slow most of the time, so February doesn't have a lot of mainstream heavy-hitters coming out with albums, but one thing does stand out - talented English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has an album in the works that should hopefully be out by the 17th, but the lack of information about it makes me only so hopeful that it will be done by then. Also, The Fray's fourth album Helios should come out on the 25th, so don't hesitate to grab it if you're a fan. A lot is happening on the silver screen this year, so I should probably pull out the bullet points so you can work your way through it all For those who've read and enjoy the novels, Vampire Academy is getting a movie, starring Zoey Deutch, Olga Kurylenko, and… a lot of other people that I don't know. I trust, though, that a movie based on a best-selling young adult book would at least be entertaining to its fans, so if it's your thing, check it out. RoboCop, the remake of the 1987 classic sci-fi action flick of the same name, is out this month. Starring Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, and Samuel L. Jackson, this version promises to be deeper - and way more action-packed - than the original. The Monuments Men, a based-on-a-true-story comedy-drama starring George Clooney and Matt Damon and directed by Clooney, follows a group of art historians and museum curators gathered by Allied forces during World War Two to rescue pieces of art stolen by the Nazis. It sounds like it won't be funny or meaningful, but I have faith that it will be impressive. If you're looking for a solid romantic movie to watch for Valentine's Day, look no further than Winter's Tale. Based on a novel from 1983, it stars Colin Farrell as a pettxy thief whose love of a woman transcends time and even death. And last but not least, a double feature of action movies starring men over 50! First, 3 Days to Kill stars Kevin Costner as a dying Secret Service agent who accepts one last job in the hope of receiving an experimental drug to stay alive and return to his family. Next, everyone's favourite action-movie old man Liam Neeson stars in Non-Stop as an Air Marshal who's just been set-up for hijacking a plane and tries to save the innocent lives on board before it's too late. It seems that all is quiet on the TV front this month, too, but there are a few things to consider starting. In late February, ABC premieres Mind Games, a drama about a pair of brothers opening a problem solving firm that uses psychological tricks to improve their clients' lives. Also, Star-Crossed, a sci-fi romance about a blossoming love between a human girl and an alien boy hiding on Earth, premieres on The CW.
