PRESIDENT ’ S PERSPECTIVE
As we close out 2021 and look forward to the new year , I would like to acknowledge and congratulate our students , faculty , staff , alumni , trustees , and community supporters for all they have accomplished in the past year . COVID-19 has presented significant challenges , and our Stevenson community has come together to promote a safe and vibrant university , from the classroom to the athletic field , from student events to our annual Homecoming .
In these pages , you will see how the Stevenson community is creating new and rich opportunities for our students . Our Honors , Leadership , and Service scholars are developing their potential through the wealth of experiences that each program offers . Whether studying leadership styles with our faculty experts , pursuing their scholarly passions , or envisioning new ways to serve our community , our student scholars are discovering more about themselves and the talents that they can bring to their future professional lives and to the world beyond Stevenson .
You will also see how our university is expanding with the construction of the 42,000-square-foot Philip A . Zaffere Library and the opening of Owings Mills East in 2022 . Owings Mills East will be an expansive 117-acre athletics complex with facilities for our NCAA D3 , club , and intramural sports as well as student recreation . In addition , these facilities will allow us to bring more high school and collegiate competitions to our campus , giving more students and families a closer look at what the Stevenson experience offers .
Lastly , you will see how the generosity of Stevenson ’ s many friends is transforming our campus and expanding scholarship , educational , and career opportunities for our students . Our momentum continues because of the unwavering support of our many alumni , families , and supporters . Stevenson ’ s future is strong because of you . Thank you and best wishes for 2022 !
Sincerely ,
Elliot L . Hirshman , Ph . D .
