TRANSFORMATIONAL GIFTS
$ 1 MILLION ANONYMOUS GIFT TO SUPPORT STEVENSON ’ S NEW LIBRARY , SCHOLARSHIPS , AND BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING PROGRAM
Stevenson is pleased to announce that an anonymous friend has given $ 1 million to the university . The gift will support the construction of the university ’ s new 42,000-square-foot Philip A . Zaffere Library as well as student scholarships and the bachelor ’ s program in Biomedical Engineering .

On behalf of our leadership and our entire campus community , I extend our deepest gratitude to our good friend for this transformative gift .”
In addition to the construction of the Zaffere Library , funds from the gift will be used to support two full , four-year Presidential scholarships , as well as for the development and equipping of a new laboratory for the university ’ s Biomedical Engineering bachelor ’ s program . The scholarships , the Archives and Dean ’ s Suite in the Zaffere Library , and space in the new Biomedical Engineering lab , will be named in honor of the late Nicholas F . Mueller , Jr ., who served for 30 years as an advisor , Trustee , and Board Chair to Stevenson ’ s predecessor , Villa Julie College .
The Zaffere Library , named in honor of the late Eastern Shore entrepreneur Philip A . Zaffere , will complement the Manning Academic Center and School of Design , creating an academic hub at the Stevenson ’ s Owings Mills North campus . In addition to resources for student and faculty research and collaboration , facilities for campus events , and faculty offices , the Zaffere Library will be home to the Zirkin Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning , named in honor of late Stevenson Associate Dean Barbara Zirkin .
