Lee Krähenbühl , Ph . D ., Associate Professor and Chair of the Communications Programs , gave a presentation in October to the John Whitmer Historical Association titled “ Actors Wandering Through the Desert to Brigham : The Strange , True Tale of Carter ’ s Dramatic Combination and Their ‘ Spirit Guides ,’ 1871 .” The talk was a summation of his longer article by the same title , which will appear in the Spring 2022 volume of The John Whitmer Historical Association Journal .
A co-authored article by Stevenson faculty members Meghan Marx , M . F . A ., Associate Professor of Graphic Design ; Rivka Glaser , Ph . D ., Associate Professor of Biological Sciences ; and Christine Moran , Ph . D ., Dean School of Education & Vice Provost Student Success titled “ A Creative Model for an Interdisciplinary Approach to Service-Learning ” was published in the Journal of Interactive and Comparative Biology .
Colin May ’ 09M , Adjunct Professor , Criminal Justice , Forensic Science , and Forensic Studies , published the article “ Conducting a Digital Forensics Capability Study ” in the FBI ’ s Law Enforcement Bulletin .
Meagan Nyland , M . F . A ., Senior Lecturer in English , published her short story “ How to Break a Dragon ’ s Heart ” in Fudoki Magazine .
Lori Rubeling , Professor of Art and Graphic Design , has been appointed Faculty Director of Exhibitions by the School of Design and is the 2021 Featured Faculty Artist for the Exhibitions program . An installation of her own work , Likely Stories : chaos and cosmos , was exhibited over the fall in the Greenspring Gallery .
Leslie Simpson , Ph . D ., Interim Program Coordinator of Fashion Design and Associate Professor of Fashion Design , has spearheaded the revamping the Fashion Design Library Guide , which will include all skill videos from courses taught over the pandemic as well as local and online resources for students .
Stevenson Men ’ s Basketball Head Coach Gary Stewart was named one of two recipients of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge ’ s 2021 Standout Athletic Coach Award . The award is presented in recognition of leadership in helping college students to improve nonpartisan civic learning , political engagement , and voter participation .
Elena Volkova , M . F . A ., Associate Professor of Art , received a grant from the Corcoran Women ’ s Committee which made possible her latest community arts project , Anacostia Portraits , which is a participatory arts project using a historic photographic process to create a visual archive celebrating people who make up the Anacostia region of the District of Columbia .
An accomplished scholar of the works of Jane Austen , Cheryl Wilson , Ph . D ., Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Professor of English , is the co-author of The Routledge Companion to Jane Austen with Maria H . Frawley , just released in October .
